PUBLIC PROSECUTION SERVICE--NEW REGIONAL CROWN ATTORNEY
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The Public Prosecution Service has announced the appointment of a
new regional Crown attorney for the western region.

James H. Burrill will succeed Jack Buntain, who retired in
August.

Mr. Burrill has been a Crown attorney in the Shelburne office
since 1987. He has been a senior Crown attorney since 1992. Mr.
Burrill, a native of Shelburne, graduated from Dalhousie Law
School in 1985. He also holds a Masters of Business
Administration from Dalhousie.

Mr. Burrill will be responsible for management and administrative
duties in Kings, Annapolis, Hants, Digby, Queens, Lunenburg,
Yarmouth and Shelburne counties. From the Shelburne office, he
will supervise eight Crown attorneys.

Jerry Pitzul, Director of Public Prosecutions, said Mr. Burrill's
strong academic background and accumulated experience as a Crown
attorney have prepared him for the challenging position of
regional Crown attorney.

Mr. Buntain had been with the Public Prosecution Service for over
17 years.
