ART GALLERY OF NOVA SCOTIA--UPCOMING EVENTS
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, 1741 Hollis St. Halifax, has a
number of special events planned for the month of December.

On Sunday, Dec. 8, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., as part of the
gallery's Sunday program, AGNS will feature a festive workshop to
bring families together with art. Participants will make holiday
season decorations, listen to music, and enjoy light
refreshments. Admission is free, and participants should
pre-register by calling 902-424-3002.

Also on Dec. 8, at 1 and 3 p.m. in the gallery theatre, the film
Shining Vision, starring Bing Crosby and Cary Grant will be
shown. This special screening is part of a series of historic
Canadian films to complement the exhibition, Flash From the Past:
The Art and Craft of Film-making. The Shining Vision was made for
Canadian audiences to promote Victory Bonds.

On Saturday, Dec. 14, at 3 p.m., the historic films series
continues with the showing of The Royal Visit, the 1939 film made
by the Canadian Government Motion Picture Bureau.

As part of the Pick of the Month series, on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at
12:15 p.m., Gershon Iskowitz's Highland in Red No. 6 will be the
feature of a short dialogue in front of the work in the LeRoy and
Marguerite Zwicker Gallery. This series is about looking,
discussing, questioning, and learning about art's power to
provoke so many responses and interpretations. This series is
presented by AGNS deputy director Virginia Stephen.
