ENVIRONMENT--CALL FOR ENVIRONMENTAL AWARDS NOMINATIONS
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The Nova Scotia Environmental Assessment Board wants to hear
about the people and organizations that are working to improve
the environment of the province. The board is calling for
nominations for its annual Environmental Awards Program.

"Each year, Nova Scotians of all ages and walks of life make
valuable contributions to the preservation and enhancement of the
ecosystem. We think its only fitting to thank them for their
leadership with public recognition," said Bill Charles, chair of
the Environmental Assessment Board.

Awards are presented annually in nine categories:
business/industrial, government, citizens groups or
organizations, individual/professional, education, science fairs,
youth, sustainable development, creative arts/media.

Anyone can nominate a candidate. The award recipients are
selected by the members of the Nova Scotia Environmental
Assessment Board and the awards will be presented at a ceremony
in the spring of 1997. Winners may subsequently be nominated for
the Canadian Healthy Environment Awards program.

A nomination form may be obtained by contacting the Board at 902-424-2574 or at any office of the Nova Scotia Department of the
Environment.
