BUSINESS/CONSUMER SERVICES--HALIFAX MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRY MOVING
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The Registry of Motor Vehicles in Halifax will be moving from
Young Street to be part of a new government service centre, Sandy
Jolly, business and consumer services minister, announced today.

The new centre, to be in the West End Mall on Mumford Road, will
offer full Registry of Motor Vehicle services, consumer and
residential tenancies services, information about government
services and programs and selected business licensing and
registration services, said Ms. Jolly.

About 70 people, who will transfer from existing Halifax area
offices, will work in the new centre. It is expected to open this
fall in space formerly occupied by Sobeys and Lawtons Drugs.

Over the next three to five years, the Department of Business and
Consumer Services will open 14 service centres across Nova
Scotia. In addition to Halifax, plans have already been announced
for Dartmouth and Kentville.
