N.S. LEGAL AID COMMISSION--EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR APPOINTED

T. Gerard Lukeman is the new executive director of the Nova
Scotia Legal Aid Commission, chairman Glen McDougall announced
today. 

Mr. Lukeman has been with the Legal Aid Commission for 23 years,
serving as a staff lawyer and more recently as managing director.
His appointment as executive director was effective Aug. 15.

"I am delighted that Mr. Lukeman has accepted this appointment,"
said Mr. McDougall. "His experience, skills and abilities will
bode well for the continued viability of the legal aid program in
this province and will ensure Nova Scotians continue to receive
quality service."

Mr. Lukeman succeeds Bill Digby, QC, who was appointed to the
provincial court in June.
