The Housing Services Division of the Department of Housing and
Municipal Affairs is moving across the water. Housing Services
will move to Summit Place in Halifax from Alderney Gate in
Dartmouth on Monday, Aug. 25.

The move will bring all divisions of the Department of Housing
and Municipal Affairs under one roof. The housing component of
the former Department of Housing and Consumer Affairs was merged
with Municipal Affairs in April 1996.

Housing Services works to provide adequate affordable housing for
Nova Scotians. The division operates through four regional
offices, in Bedford, Sydney, New Glasgow and Middleton.

In 1996-97 the department, through federal-provincial funding,
helped 3,300 households with essential home repairs. The
department also administers 13,000 social housing units
throughout the province which provides affordable housing for
families, seniors and persons with special needs.
