NATURAL RESOURCES--TOUR 1997 WOODLOT OWNER OF THE YEAR SITE
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Free tours of the woodlot owned by Anthony van Dyk in New
Grafton, Annapolis Co., will take place Saturday, Sept. 20. Mr.
van Dyk won the 1997 Nova Scotia Woodlot Owner of the Year Award,
which will be presented to him that day.

Buses leave from the Queens County Fair Grounds in Caledonia
every half hour from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tours will last about two
hours, but participants may stay longer.

Mr. van Dyk will demonstrate shelterwood harvesting with his
newly modified skidder. The tour includes viewing of
firewood-processing equipment, a portable sawmill, and oxen.
There will be a wood products display, and visitors can take a
look at Mr. van Dyk's cottage near a small brook.

Staff from Kejimkujik National Park will also be on hand to
discuss park issues and how they co-operate with bordering
landowners, such as Mr. van Dyk.
