InNOVAcorp--NOVA SCOTIA'S SCIENCE INDUSTRY INVENTS WONDERS
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Clean water and wound dressings are just two technologies being
featured at InNOVAcorp's Innovation Showcase `97.

Showcase `97, a yearly trade show for clients of InNOVAcorp's
business incubator facility, the Technology Innovation Centre,
will be held this year on Thursday, Oct. 16, from 2 p.m. to 6
p.m. at the centre, One Research Drive, Woodside Industrial Park,
Dartmouth.

Besides featuring unique products and services from over 40 of
its clients, Showcase will also host the provincial kick-off to
National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) at a special event
from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m., just before the trade show opens.

Each year InNOVAcorp highlights a promising new technology at
Showcase. This year InNOVAcorp is promoting Agri Solutions, a
company that has developed a unique water purification system for
the commercial agricultural market; and Nova Chem, a company
pursuing medical and agricultural markets worldwide with a
dynamic new product derived from shrimp shells.

"When we are able to see companies like Nova Chem and Agri
Solutions grow to become viable commercial operations we consider
ourselves successful," said InNOVAcorp chief executive officer
Dr. Ross McCurdy. "These two companies are prime examples of the
untapped opportunity that exists in this province. Our job is to
be a catalyst for companies like these to allow them to reach
their full potential."

InNOVAcorp assists Nova Scotia's technology firms to compete
anywhere in the world by helping them improve their products and
services and through a unique technology commercialization
process. The Technology Innovation Centre is just one of the
commercialization resources available for developing companies.
Details on these and many other services will be available at
InNOVAcorp's display at Showcase tomorrow.

InNOVAcorp's NSTW partner, the Science and Technology Awareness
Network (STANet), is hosting the 10-day annual celebration of
science, engineering and technology in Canada. Held this year
from Oct. 17 to 26, NSTW is celebrating the spirit of these
inventors at its provincial kick-off event, that is being held as
part of Showcase `97.

This and over 50 other events across the province will encourage
Nova Scotians of all ages to discover new frontiers, learn
something different, and appreciate the contributions that
science and technology have made to the economy and way of life.
