AGRICULTURE/MARKETING--Acting Agriculture Rep for Digby Announced
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Agriculture and Marketing Minister Ed Lorraine today announced
the appointment of Cory Newell as acting agricultural
representative for Digby County, effective Nov. 17.

"I want to congratulate Mr. Newell on his appointment," said Mr.
Lorraine. "His education, skills and experience will be an asset
to producers in Digby County."

Mr. Newell has a degree in animal science from the Nova Scotia
Agricultural College and is currently completing his master of
science degree in mink production and environmental management.

A native of Bible Hill, Mr. Newell has worked for local farming
operations during summer breaks and has been a teaching assistant
at the agricultural college during the past year. He has also
worked out of the department's Weymouth office as part of his
master's program field work, making him familiar with agriculture
in Digby County.

Mr. Newell's first order of business when he starts in the
Weymouth office will be to make contact with all producers in the
area.
