Apply for funding to support community wellness services: Mental Health and Addictions Community Wellness Grant
The Mental Health and Addictions Community Wellness Grant (Delivery Partner stream) provides funding to help community-based organizations support mental health, mental wellness and addictions services. You can apply from 28 May to 5 July 2024.

The Mental Health and Addictions Community Wellness Grant (Delivery Partner Stream) provides up to 3-year funding to support long-term community wellness projects.
You need to use the funding for community projects that:
- increase capacity (like knowledge, skills and resources) of mental health and addiction supports
- improve access for community members to resources, programs and services that support mental health and addictions care
- provide programs, services and supports that address community needs from the Community Wellness Framework guidelines
Priority is given to projects in communities throughout the province, equity seeking groups and different community wellness services.
Funding amount
The Mental Health and Addictions Community Wellness Grant (Delivery Partner stream) may fund up to $250,000 of eligible costs for each project. The applicant or other sources need to fund the remaining balance of the projects.
Ineligible costs
Ineligible project costs include:
- new builds or major upgrades of facilities
- any costs not associated with the proposed work
- costs for existing projects, work already ongoing and work already funded
Reporting requirements
If you receive funding from the Mental Health and Addictions Community Wellness Grant, you need to submit financial and accountability reporting throughout the project.
Funding streams
The Mental Health and Addictions Community Wellness Grant has 3 funding streams. The Office of Addictions and Mental Health administers the Delivery Partner Stream. The other 2 streams are administered by partner organizations.
Eligibility
Community-based organizations (registered non-profit organizations and charities) and First Nations communities that provide mental health and addiction supports and services can apply for funding.
Community-based organizations include societies, non-profit association associations, non-profit co-operatives and charities registered and in good standing with Registry of Joint Stock Companies or under provincial or territorial legislation in Canada and that are authorized to operate in Nova Scotia.
Ineligible groups
Organizations that are ineligible for funding (and can’t apply) include:
- health authorities
- municipalities
- organizations located outside of Nova Scotia
- businesses, industry associations and sole proprietorships
- individuals and organizations that are not registered with Registry of Joint Stock Companies
You need to apply for funding by 5 July 2024.

- Send your intent to apply and any questions by email.
- Complete the Budget Template and funding application form.
- Check the application for details on all required supporting documents.
- Send your completed application and supporting documents by email.
How long it takes
It should take 6 to 8 weeks for the Office of Addictions and Mental Health to review your funding application and let you know if it is approved. It can take longer if more information is needed or if your application hasn’t been filled in correctly.
Cost
There is no cost to apply for the funding.
