Road traffic injuries are the leading cause of death worldwide for youth aged 10-24. Every year, 1.2 million lose their lives to road crashes – 1/3 are youth under 25.
In April of 2007 youth from around the world gathered in Geneva, Switzerland for the World Youth Assembly on Road Safety. Nearly 400 delegates representing over 100 countries gathered to discuss youth road safety share their experiences and identify ways to strengthen their road safety efforts. A document, organized by the delegates of the Assembly provides a guide for youth road safety.
