US TRADE BALANCE, JANUARY 2018

 

 

In January 2018, the US goods and services trade deficit increased by $2.7 billion over December 2017 to $56.6 billion, the largest US trade deficit since 2008.

US goods exports decreased by $3.0 billion and goods imports were down by $183 million, resulting in an increase in the goods trade deficit of $2.8 billion to $76.5 billion. Service exports increased by $275 million and service imports increased by $179 million, resulting in a $98 million increase to the service trade surplus of $19.9 billion.
