NEW MOTOR VEHICLE SALES, JANUARY-FEBRUARY 2018

 

In January-February 2018, Nova Scotia motor vehicle unit sales increased 2.5% over Jan-Feb 2017. The 5,817 new vehicles sold in January-February represented a value of $208.3 million, down 3.5% compared with motor vehicle sales values from the same period in 2017.

                                          

 

In January-February 2018, Canadian unit sales increased 4.3 per cent over Jan-Feb 2017 to 248,492 units. January-February dollar sales were in positive territory, increasing 8.1 per cent over January-February 2017 to $10.3 billion.

In Nova Scotia January-February 2018, North America manufactured motor vehicle sales value  decreased 7.6% (80.2% share) over Jan-Feb 2017. Motor vehicle sales value of vehicles manufactured in other countries increased 17.5% (19.8% share) over Jan-Feb 2016.




In Nova Scotia January-February 2018, North America manufactured motor vehicle unit sales decreased 1.2 (78.1% share) over Jan-Feb 2017. Motor vehicle unit sales of vehicles manufactured in other countries increased 18.4% (21.9% share) over Jan-Feb 2017.

Average Prices

In January-February 2018, the average unit price in Canada increased 3.7% to $41,598 over Jan-Feb 2017.  In Nova Scotia, the average unit price decreased 5.8% to $35,811 over the same period last year. 



 

 

Passenger Cars and Trucks

In January-February 2018, Nova Scotian passenger car unit sales increased 18.3 per cent over Jan-Feb 2017 to 2,002 units. January-February 2018 passenger car dollar sales increased 23.2 per cent over January-February 2017 to $53.2 million.

In January-February 2018, Nova Scotian truck unit sales decreased 4.2 per cent over Jan-Feb 2017 to 3,815 units. January-February 2018 truck dollar sales decreased 10.1 per cent over January-February 2017 to $155.1 million.

The truck share of the sales value stands at 74.5%, and the unit sales volume stands at 65.6%
