NOVA SCOTIA INTERNATIONAL TRADE - CULTURE AND SPORTS 2016

 

In 2016, Nova Scotia's international import trade in culture and sports declined to $433.6 million over 2015. Trade in culture and sports exports increased to $168.2 million over 2015. The result was a trade deficit of $265.4 million in 2016.

 

Statistics Canada reports that in 2016, Nova Scotia international trade in culture product imports declined 3.0%  to $395.2 million over 2015, and international imports sports products increased 1.3% to $38.4 million over 2015.

Statistics Canada reports that in 2016, Nova Scotia international trade in culture product exports increased 1.0%  to $141.5 million over 2015, and international exports sports products increased 9.9% to $26.7 million over 2015.

Numbers for Nova Scotia interprovincial trade in culture and sports products for 2016 are not available. The latest release for imports and exports are available for 2010 to 2014 in CANSIM 387-0019.

Note that the import and export tables for international and interprovincial trade in culture and sports products do reconcile with the provincial economic accounts table on CANSIM 384-0038, so it is possible to compute a trade balance for these tables.

 

Statistics Canada Quotes

"Nova Scotia exported $141.5 million of culture products in 2016, accounting for 2.0% of all exports in the province. The largest contributor to culture exports was film and video ($35.1 million). The province had $395.2 million worth of culture imports, representing 3.0% of all international imports in the province."

"In 2016, Nova Scotia exported $26.7 million in sport products, led by education and training. At the same time, imports of sports products totalled $38.4 million."
