LABOUR FORCE SURVEY - JUNE 2018

In Nova Scotia June 2018, (seasonally-adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):

  • Labour Force increased 0.3% (+1,600) from May 2018 to 491,100 and was essentially unchanged 0.0% (-200) over June 2017.
  • Employment decreased 0.4% (-1,700) from May 2018 to 452,400 and increased 1.0% (4,700) over June 2017.
  • Unemployment increased 9.6% (+3,400) from May 2018 to 38,800 and decreased 10.8% (-4,700) over June 2017.
  • Unemployment rate increased 0.7 percentage points from May 2018 to 7.9%.

 In Canada June 2018, (seasonally-adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):

  • Labour Force increased 0.4% (75,600) from May 2018 to 19,823,400 and increased 0.7% (138,000) over June 2017.
  • Employment increased 0.2% (31,800) from May 2018 to 18,628,000 and increased 1.2% (214,900) over June 2017.
  • Unemployment increased 3.8% (+43,700) from May 2018 to 1,195,300 and decreased 6.1% (-77,100) over June 2017.
  • Unemployment rate increased 0.2 percentage points from May 2018 to 6.0%.

 In Halifax June 2018, (3 month moving average, seasonally-adjusted):

  • Labour Force increased 0.2% (+400) from May 2018 to 248,700 and increased 2.7% (+6,600) over June 2017.
  • Employment decreased 0.1% (-300) from May 2018 to 233,900 and increased 3.9% (+8,700) over June 2017.
  • Unemployment increased 5.0% (+700) from May 2018 to 14,800 and decreased 12.4% (-2,100) over June 2017.
  • Unemployment rate increased 0.3 percentage points from May 2018 to 6.0%.
