LABOUR FORCE SURVEY - JULY 2018

In Nova Scotia July 2018, (seasonally-adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):

  • Labour Force increased 0.3% (1,500) from June 2018 to 492,600 and increased 0.8% (4,000) over July 2017.
  • Employment increased 0.2% (1,000) from June 2018 to 453,400 and increased 0.9% (4,100) over July 2017.
  • Unemployment increased 1.0% (400) from June 2018 to 39,200 and decreased 0.3% (-100) over July 2017.
  • Unemployment rate increased 0.1 percentage points from June 2018 to 8.0%.

In Canada July 2018, (seasonally-adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):

  • Labour Force increased 0.1% (19,100) from June 2018 to 19,842,500 and increased 0.9% (172,300) over July 2017.
  • Employment increased 0.3% (54,100) from June 2018 to 18,682,100 and increased 1.3% (245,900) over July 2017.
  • Unemployment decreased 2.9% (-34,900) from June 2018 to 1,160,400 and decreased 6.0% (-73,600) over July 2017.
  • Unemployment rate decreased 0.2 percentage points from June 2018 to 5.8%.

In Halifax July 2018, (3 month moving average, seasonally-adjusted):

  • Labour Force increased 0.3% (800) from June 2018 to 249,500 and increased 3.1% (7,600) over July 2017.
  • Employment decreased 0.2% (-500) from June 2018 to 233,400 and increased 3.6% (8,200) over July 2017.
  • Unemployment increased 8.8% (1,300) from June 2018 to 16,100 and decreased 3.6% (-600) over July 2017.
  • Unemployment rate increased 0.5 percentage points from June 2018 to 6.5%.
