September 13, 2018US CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, AUGUST 2018 The US Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers increased 0.2 per cent in August (seasonally adjusted growth from July). This month, shelter and energy costs were the main contributors to the rise in consumer prices.
Year over year (August 2018 compared to August 2017) consumer prices were up 2.7 per cent (not seasonally adjusted) as energy prices continue to drive inflation. The all items less food and energy index rose 2.2 per cent, year over year.
