JAPAN CPI INFLATION, AUGUST 2018

Japan's CPI inflation (year-over-year) continues to accelerate, reaching 1.3 per cent in August.  Energy price growth was stable at 7.4 per cent while food price growth increased again to 2.2 per cent.  Underlying inflation remains muted at 0.4 per cent for all items excluding fresh food and energy.

Although Japan's inflation continues to rise, it remains slower than price growth in most advanced economies, including Canada.
