UK RETAIL SALES, OCTOBER 2018

 

The UK Office for National Statistics reports that UK retail sales decreased for the second consecutive month in October.

  • Month over month retail sales values decreased 0.4 per cent while the retail sales volume (adjusted for price changes) decreased 0.3 per cent over September 2018.
  • Year-over-year retail sales values increased 4.2 per cent and retail sales volumes increased 2.4 per cent over October 2017.
  • Year-to-date retail sales values increased 4.8 per cent and retail sales volumes increased 2.5 per cent over Jan-Oct 2017. 

Year-over-year Internet Sales increased by 12.6% over October 2017. Month-over-month Internet sales increased by 1.2% over September 2018. Online sales as a proportion of all retailing increased by 0.2 percentage points to a 18.0% share.
