LABOUR FORCE SURVEY - NOVEMBER 2018

In Nova Scotia November 2018, (seasonally-adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):

  • Labour Force decreased 0.6% (-3,000) from October 2018 to 492,500 and remains virtually unchanged (-100) over November 2017.
  • Employment remains virtually unchanged (200) from October 2018 at 457,700 and increased 1.8% (8,000) over November 2017.
  • Unemployment decreased 8.9% (-3,400) from October 2018 to 34,700 and decreased 19.1% (-8,200) over November 2017.
  • Unemployment rate decreased 0.7 percentage points from October 2018 to 7.0%.

In Canada November 2018, (seasonally-adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):

  • Labour Force increased 0.4% (77,200) from October 2018 to 19,923,900 and increased 0.9% (175,600) over November 2017.
  • Employment increased 0.5% (94,100) from October 2018 to 18,799,100 and increased 1.2% (218,800) over November 2017.
  • Unemployment decreased 1.5% (-16,900) from October 2018 to 1,124,800 and decreased 3.7% (-43,200) over November 2017.
  • Unemployment rate decreased 0.2 percentage points from October 2018 to 5.6%.

In Halifax November 2018, (3 month moving average, seasonally-adjusted):

  • Labour Force decreased 0.1% (-200) from October 2018 to 251,700 and increased 4.1% (10,000) over November 2017.
  • Employment increased 0.4% (1,000) from October 2018 to 236,200 and increased 5.4% (12,100) over November 2017.
  • Unemployment decreased 7.2% (-1,200) from October 2018 to 15,500 and decreased 11.9% (-2,100) over November 2017.
  • Unemployment rate decreased 0.4 percentage points from October 2018 to 6.2%.
