EU AND EURO AREA TRADE BALANCE IN GOODS, DECEMBER AND ANNUAL 2018

DECEMBER 2018

EURO AREA

In December 2018, the Euro Area (EA19) goods trade (not seasonally adjusted) with the rest of the world recorded a surplus of €17.0 billion.

• Euro Area (EA19) export values decreased €4.5 billion (2.5 per cent) to €176.5 billion compared to December 2017.
• Euro Area (EA19) import values increased €3.0 billion (1.9 per cent) to €159.5 billion compared to December 2017.
• it was also reported that intra-euro area trade decreased 1.2 per cent to €142.6 billion compared to December 2017.

 

In December 2018, the Euro Area (EA19) goods trade (not seasonally adjusted) with Canada recorded a surplus of €0.8 billion.

In December 2018, the Euro Area (EA19) goods trade (not seasonally adjusted) with the United States recorded a surplus of €9.1 billion.

 

EUROPEAN UNION

In December 2018, the European Union (EU28) goods trade (not seasonally adjusted) with the rest of the world recorded a surplus of €0.7 billion.

• European Union (EU28) export values decreased €6.2 billion (3.9 per cent) to €153.9 billion compared to December 2017.
• European Union (EU28) import values increased €6.3 billion (4.3 per cent) to €153.2 billion compared to December 2017.
• it was also reported that intra-EU28 trade decreased 1.5 per cent to €255.2 billion compared to December 2017.

In December 2018, the European Union (EU28) goods trade (not seasonally adjusted) with Canada recorded a surplus of €0.5 billion.

In December 2018, the European Union (EU28) goods trade (not seasonally adjusted) with the United States recorded a surplus of €9.5 billion.

 

ANNUAL

 

In 2018, the Euro Area goods trade balance of payments was a surplus of €194 billion.

 

In 2018, the European Union goods trade balance of payments was a deficit of €23 billion.
