March 01, 2019JAPAN CPI INFLATION, JANUARY
Japan's CPI inflation (all items, year-over-year) fell again to 0.2 per cent in January 2019. Energy price growth was 4.9 per cent while food prices fell 1.5 per cent. Underlying inflation edged up to 0.4 per cent (all items excluding fresh food and energy).
Inflation has been slowed in many advanced economies as oil prices abated. Year-over-year price growth has slowed for Canada, Nova Scotia and Japan in recent months. However, Japan's inflation remains slower than price growth in most advanced economies.
