In January 2019, US Goods and Services trade deficit narrowed by $8.8 billion to $51.1 billion. The goods trade deficit narrowed by $8.2 billion to $73.3 billion. The services trade surplus widened by $0.5 billion to $22.1 billion.
Monthly exports increased by $1.9 billion to $207.3 billion. Goods exports increased $1.8 billion to $137.4 billion, and services exports increased $168 million to $70.0 billion.
US imports decreased $6.8 billion to $258.5 billion. Goods imports decreased $6.5 billion to $210.7 billion, and imports of services decreased $348 million to $47.8 billion.
Compared to January 2018, the US trade deficit narrowed by $1.9 billion. The goods trade deficit narrowed by $2.1 billion and the services trade surplus narrowed by $0.1 billion.
