JAPAN LABOUR FORCE SURVEY, FEBRUARY 2019

Japan's unemployment rate declined to 2.3 per cent in February, as employment grew by 0.7 per cent while the labour force increased by 0.5 per cent.  Japan's unemployment rate has fallen to a range of 2.3 to 2.5 per cent, where it has remained since the beginning of 2018.

Canada's unemployment rate has also been trending down since 2016 as employment gains outpaced labour force growth.  A similar pattern emerged in Nova Scotia (albeit with more volatility) in 2018 and accelerated in early 2019.
