PROVINCIAL AND TERRITORIAL CULTURE INDICATORS, 2017

Statistics Canada has updated indicators of Canada's culture and sport activities for 2017.  

Nova Scotia's GDP from culture in 2017 was $929 million, amounting to $973 per capita and 2.4 per cent of provincial GDP.  Culture employment was 13,101 in 2017 or 2.8 per cent of provincial employment. 

GDP from sport was $154 million; $161 per capita and 0.4 per cent of provincial GDP.  Sport employment was 2,781 or 0.6 per cent of provincial employment.

Notes: culture and sport share of GDP are calculated using GDP by income, adjusted for taxes less subsidies on products and imports; GDP per capita are calculated using Q4 2017 population estimates; employment shares calculated using job totals from labour productivity tables
