JAPAN CURRENT ACCOUNT AND TRADE BALANCE, MAY 2019

Current Account

  

In May 2019, Japan reported

  • the Net international trade (goods and services) deficit increased 416 billion yen to 496 billion yen,
  • primary income surplus increased 195 billion yen to 1,888 billion yen and
  • secondary income (transfers) deficit increased 74 billion yen to 87 billion yen.

As a result, the current account surplus decreased 294 billion yen to 1,306 billion yen over April 2019.

 

Trade Balance

In May 2019, Japan 's

  • goods exports decreased 140 billion yen to 6,396 billion yen,
  • goods imports increased 214 billion yen to 6,849 billion yen,
  • As a result, net international goods trade deficit increased 353 billion yen to 452 billion yen, over April 2019.
  • Net international services trade changed from a surplus of 19 billion yen in April 2019, to a deficit of 43 billion yen in May 2019.

As a result, Net international trade (goods and services) deficit increased 416 billion yen to 496 billion yen, over April 2019
