July 11, 2019NEW HOUSING PRICE INDEX, MAY 2019 In Nova Scotia, the price of new housing increased 0.4 per cent in May 2019. The national index declined 0.1 per cent after remaining unchanged in the previous three months.
In Nova Scotia, new housing prices were 0.7 per cent higher than they were in May 2018. National new housing prices were unchanged, year over year.
Year to date, Nova Scotia new housing prices were up 0.7 per cent in the first five months of 2019. National new housing prices were unchanged in January-May 2019 compared to January-May 2018. Quebec saw the fastest growth in new housing prices at 1.9 per cent. The largest decline was in Saskatchewan where new housing prices fell 1.5 per cent compared to the first five months of 2018.
Census Metropolitan Areas
Year to date, price growth among Census Metropolitan Areas was fastest in Ottawa, London, Windsor and Montreal. New housing prices declined the most in Regina, Oshawa and St.John's.
