August 02, 2019CANADA INTERNATIONAL MERCHANDISE TRADE, JUNE 2019 
In June 2019, the Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payment basis, seasonally adjusted) surplus narrowed to $135.8 million. This is the third monthly trade surplus reported since December 2016. Exports are down 5.1% to $50.3 billion over May 2019, and are down 0.9% over June 2018. Imports are down 4.3% to $50.2 billion over May 2019, and are down 2.7% over June 2018.
YEAR-TO-DATE
In the period Jan-Jun 2019, the year-to-date Canadian merchandise trade deficit reached $9.3 billion. Year-to-date goods Exports were valued at $300.5 billion and year-to-date goods Imports were valued at $309.8 billion.
TRADE PARTNERS
In June 2019, the Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payment basis, seasonally adjusted) surplus with the United States narrowed to $5.7 billion.
In June 2019, the Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payment basis, seasonally adjusted) deficit with China widened to $1.7 billion.
In June 2019, the Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payment basis, seasonally adjusted) deficit with the European Union narrowed to $1.1 billion.
