October 31, 2019EU AND EURO AREA UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, SEPTEMBER 2019 
Eurostat has reported that the unemployment rate in the Euro Area was stable at 7.5 per cent in September 2019 (compared with revised August results). For the Euro Area, this is the lowest unemployment rate since July 2008.
For the broader European Union, the unemployment rate was also stable at 6.3 per cent in September 2019. This unemployment rate for the European Union remains at its lowest level since the monthly data series began in 2000.
Among major European economies, the unemployment rate was highest in Greece (16.9 per cent in July), Spain (14.2 per cent), Italy (9.9 per cent) and France (8.4 per cent). Unemployment rates were lowest in Czechia (2.1 per cent), Germany (3.1 per cent), Poland (3.3 per cent), Malta (3.4 per cent) and Hungary (3.4 per cent in August).
