November 08, 2019LABOUR FORCE SURVEY - OCTOBER 2019 In Nova Scotia October 2019, (seasonally adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):
- Labour force increased 1.1 per cent (5,300) from September 2019 to 508,300 and increased 2.6 per cent (13,000) over October 2018
- Employment increased 0.1 per cent (600) from September 2019 to 467,500 and increased 2.1 per cent (9,800) over October 2018
- Unemployment increased 13.3 per cent (4,800) from September 2019 to 40,900 and increased 8.5 per cent (3,200) over October 2018
- Unemployment Rate increased 0.8 percentage points from September 2019 to 8.0 per cent.
In Canada October 2019, (seasonally adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):
- Labour force remains virtually unchanged (7,600) from September 2019 at 20,286,000 and increased 2.2 per cent (427,200) over October 2018
- Employment decreased (1,800) from September 2019 at 19,163,400 and increased 2.4 per cent (442,500) over October 2018
- Unemployment increased 0.9 per cent (9,500) from September 2019 to 1,122,700 and decreased 1.3 per cent (15,100) over October 2018
- Unemployment Rate remains virtually unchanged from September 2019 at 5.5 per cent.
In Halifax October 2019, (seasonally adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):
- Labour force increased 0.3 per cent (800) from September 2019 to 258,200 and increased 2.5 per cent (6,400) over October 2018
- Employment remains virtually unchanged (100) from September 2019 at 242,900 and increased 3.2 per cent (7,500) over October 2018
- Unemployment increased 4.8 per cent (700) from September 2019 to 15,300 and decreased 6.7 per cent (1,100) over October 2018
- Unemployment Rate increased 0.2 percentage points from September 2019 to 5.9 per cent
