EU AND EURO AREA TRADE BALANCE IN GOODS, SEPTEMBER 2019

EURO AREA

In September 2019, the Euro Area (EA19) goods trade (not seasonally adjusted) with the rest of the world recorded a surplus of €18.7 billion.

  • Euro Area (EA19) export values increased €9.7 billion (5.2 per cent) to €196.2 billion compared to September 2018.
  • Euro Area (EA19) import values increased €3.7 billion (2.1 per cent) to €177.6 billion compared to September 2018.

In September 2019, it was also reported that intra-euro area trade increased 0.9 per cent to €163.4 billion compared to September 2018.

In September 2019, the Euro Area (EA19) goods trade (not seasonally adjusted) with Canada recorded a surplus of €1.4 billion.

In September 2019, the Euro Area (EA19) goods trade (not seasonally adjusted) with the United States recorded a surplus of €11.2 billion.

 

EUROPEAN UNION

In September 2019, the European Union (EU28) goods trade (not seasonally adjusted) with the rest of the world recorded a deficit of €5.0 billion.

  • European Union (EU28) export values increased €7.0 billion (4.3 per cent) to €168.3 billion compared to September 2018.
  • European Union (EU28) import values increased €10.6 billion (6.4 per cent) to €173.3 billion compared to September 2018.

In September 2019, it was also reported that intra-EU28 trade increased 2.3 per cent to €301.0 billion compared to September 2018.

In September 2019, the European Union (EU28) goods trade (not seasonally adjusted) with Canada recorded a surplus of €0.8 billion.

In September 2019, the European Union (EU28) goods trade (not seasonally adjusted) with the United States recorded a surplus of €13.2 billion.
