CANADA INTERNATIONAL MERCHANDISE TRADE, OCTOBER 2019

In October 2019, the Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payment basis, seasonally adjusted) deficit narrowed to $1.1 billion. Exports are up 0.8% to $49.9 billion over September 2019, and are up 0.1% over October 2018. Imports are up 0.5% to $51.0 billion over September 2019, and are up 0.6% over October 2018.

 

YEAR-TO-DATE

In the period Jan-Oct 2019, the year-to-date Canadian merchandise trade deficit was $14.9 billion. Year-to-date goods Exports were valued at $499.0 billion and year-to-date goods Imports were valued at $513.9 billion.

 

TRADE PARTNERS

In October 2019, the Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payment basis, seasonally adjusted), surplus with the United States widened to $5.5 billion.

In October 2019, the Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payment basis, seasonally adjusted), deficit with China widened to $2.2 billion.

In October 2019, the Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payment basis, seasonally adjusted), deficit with the European Union widened to $1.3 billion.
