January 09, 2020EU AND EURO AREA UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, NOVEMBER 2019
Eurostat has reported that the unemployment rate in the Euro Area was stable at 7.5 per cent in November 2019, unchanged from last month and down from 7.9 per cent in November 2018. For the Euro Area, this is the lowest unemployment rate since July 2008.
For the broader European Union, the unemployment rate was stable at 6.3 per cent in November 2019, unchanged from last month and down from 6.6 per cent in November 2018. This unemployment rate for the European Union remains at its lowest level since the monthly data series began in 2000.
Among major company economies, the unemployment rate was highest in Greece (16.8 per cent in Sep), Spain (14.1 per cent), Italy (9.7 per cent) and France (8.4 per cent).
Unemployment rates were lowest in Czechia (2.2 per cent), Germany (3.1 per cent), Poland (3.2 per cent), Malta (3.5 per cent), Netherlands (3.5 per cent) and Hungary (3.5 per cent in Oct).
