In Jan-Feb 2020, Nova Scotia International Merchandise Trade Exports decreased 9.1% ($83.0 million) over Jan-Feb 2019, to $0.8 billion.

Comparing Nova Scotia's exports for Jan-Feb 2020 with the same period last year, the largest dollar value increases were in Metal/Ores ($9.2 million), Transportation Equipment ($5.0 million), Consumer Goods ($4.3 million). The largest dollar value decreases were in Forestry/Building/Packaging Materials ($53.5 million), Farm, Fishing & Inter. Food ($19.2 million), and Chemical, plastic, rubber ($12.3 million).

In Jan-Feb 2020, Alberta reported the highest increase (19.0%), while British Columbia reported the highest decline (15.6%) in merchandise trade exports over Jan-Feb 2019. Nova Scotia reported a 9.1% loss in merchandise trade exports. Canada reported a 3.2% gain in merchandise trade exports over Jan-Feb 2019.
Excluding energy exports, Newfoundland and Labrador reported the highest increase (29.9%) while British Columbia reported the highest decline (10.5%) in Non-energy exports over Jan-Feb 2019. Nova Scotia reported a 9.4% loss in Non-energy exports. Canada reported a 0.6% loss in Non-energy exports over Jan-Feb 2019

- Consumer Goods with a value of $184.6 million (22 % share),
- Forestry/Building/Packaging Materials with a value of $79.5 million (10 % share),

In the period Jan-Feb 2019 to Jan-Feb 2020, year-to-date export trade to China decreased 20.7% ($34.5 million) to $132.5 million. Japan decreased 23.0% ($2.9 million) to $9.7 million. South Korea decreased 13.9% ($2.4 million) to $14.8 million. Hong Kong decreased 23.6% ($0.8 million) to $2.6 million. India increased 14.9% ($0.74 million) to $5.7 million. Taiwan decreased 15.5% (-$0.3 million) to $1.9 million. Indonesia decreased 0.1% ($0.0 million) to $1.2 million. Singapore decreased 87.1% ($2.9 million) to $0.4 million.
