FARM PRODUCT PRICES, FEBRUARY 2020

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the DailyStats will expand coverage to additional data that may signal rapidly changing economic conditions. 

Nova Scotia Month-over-month Sectors

In Feb 2020 vs Jan 2020, Nova Scotia  Farm Product Prices (Dollars) for:

  • Wheat (except durum wheat)  increased 0.9%  ($2.32 per metric tonne)  to $256.60 per metric tonne
  • Cattle for slaughter increased 2.6%  ($2.47 per hundred weight)  to $97.88 per hundred weight
  • Chickens for meat  decreased 0.9%  (-$0.02 per kilogram)  to $2.26 per kilogram
  • Unprocessed milk from bovine  increased 1.3%  ($9.67 per kilolitre)  to $763.28 per litre
  • Eggs in shell was unchanged  at $1.79 per dozen

  

Nova Scotia Year-to-date Sectors 

In Jan-Feb 2019 vs Jan-Feb 2020, Nova Scotia  Farm Product Prices (YTD Average) for:

  • Wheat (except durum wheat)  increased 6.2%  ($14.97 per metric tonne)  to $255.44 per metric tonne
  • Oats decreased 3.4%  (-$7.51 per metric tonne)  to $214.70 per metric tonne
  • Barley  increased 1.9%  ($4.21 per metric tonne)  to $221.45 per metric tonne
  • Corn for grain increased 12.4%  ($29.95 per metric tonne)  to $271.01 per metric tonne
  • Fresh potatoes decreased 100.0%  (-$16.08 per hundred weight)  to $0.00 per hundred weight
  • Cattle for slaughter increased 4.1%  ($3.79 per hundred weight)  to $96.65 per hundred weight
  • Cattle for feeding  increased 15.5%  ($17.41 per hundred weight)  to $129.59 per hundred weight
  • Calves for feeding increased 11.9%  ($16.55 per hundred weight)  to $155.08 per hundred weight
  • Hogs increased 4.2%  ($2.95 per kilogram)  to $73.31 per kilogram
  • Chickens for meat  increased 3.7%  ($0.08 per kilogram)  to $2.27 per kilogram
  • Turkeys for meat decreased 3.5%  (-$0.09 per kilogram  to $2.35 per kilogram
  • Unprocessed milk from bovine  increased 2.9%  ($21.37 per kilolitre)  to $758.45 per kilolitre
  • Eggs in shell decreased 0.6%  (-$0.01 per dozen)  to $1.79 per dozen
