April 20, 2020EU AND EURO AREA TRADE BALANCE IN GOODS, FEBRUARY 2020 EURO AREA
In February 2020, the Euro Area (EA19) Goods Trade (not seasonally adjusted) with the rest of the world recorded a surplus of €23.0 billion.
From January 2020 to February 2020:
- Euro Area (EA19) exports increased €5.4 billion (+2.9%) to €189.3 billion.
- Euro Area imports decreased €15.9 billion (-8.7%) to €166.3 billion.
EUROPEAN UNION
In February 2020, European Union (EU27, now excluding the UK) goods trade (not seasonally adjusted) with the rest of the world recorded a surplus of €22.4 billion.
From January to February 2020:
- European Union (EU27) exports increased €4.3 billion (+2.6%) to €170.7 billion.
- European Union imports decreased €20.2 billion (-12.0%) to €148.3 billion.
The UK left the European Union as of January 31, 2020. The balance of trade in goods between the remaining 27 members of the EU and the UK was little changed. The 27 EU countries had a surplus of €9.0 billion with the UK in February. EU exports to the UK were €25.3 billion while EU imports from the UK were €16.2 billion.
In February 2020, the European Union had a surplus of €1.6 billion in goods traded with Canada. The European Union had a surplus of €12.2 billion with the US.
