Comparing June 2020 with May 2020
- Japan’s Goods & services trade deficit narrowed by 375.3 billion yen to 358 billion yen
- Primary income surplus narrowed by 178 billion yen to 1,584 billion yen
- Secondary income deficit narrowed by 31 billion yen to 177 billion yen
- Current account surplus widened by 228 billion yen to 1,049 billion yen
Trade Balance
Comparing June 2020 with May 2020
- Export goods trade increased 120 billion yen to 4,730 billion yen over May 2020 and decreased 1,681.6 billion yen over June 2019.
- Import goods trade decreased 196 billion yen to 4,955 billion yen over May 2020 and decreased 1,333.5 billion yen over June 2019.
- As a result, Net Goods trade deficit narrowed by 316 billion yen to 226 billion yen
- Net Services trade deficit narrowed by 60 billion yen to 132 billion yen
- Overall, the Goods & services trade deficit narrowed by 375.3 billion yen to 358 billion yen
CURRENT ACCOUNT AS A SHARE OF GDP
Year-over-year (2019Q1 to 2020Q1), Japan's current account to GDP measure was virtually unchanged. Quarter-over-quarter (2019Q4 to 2020Q1), Japan's current account to GDP measure declined 0.27 points to 3.6%.
