August 19, 2020EURO AREA CURRENT ACCOUNT, JUNE 2020
The European Central Bank reported today (working day and seasonally adjusted) that the Euro Area (EA19) current account surplus widened by €9.4 billion to €20.7 billion June 2020, compared with May 2020. This included:
- a surplus of €25.2 billion in goods trade, up from €20.6 billion in May
- a surplus of €4.2 billion in services trade, up from €4.1 billion in May
- a surplus of €1.5 billion in primary income, down from €4.8 billion in May
- a deficit of €10.3 billion in secondary income, down from €18.2 billion in May
Comparing June 2020 with May 2020, Euro Area exports of goods and services increased €16.1 billion to €237.7 billion. Imports of goods and services increased €11.3 billion to €208.2 billion. The net goods and trade surplus widened by €4.8 billion to €29.5 billion.
