US TRADE BALANCE, JULY 2020

The US goods and services deficit was $63.6 billion in July 2020, $10.1 billion wider than the revised June 2020 estimate of $53.5 billion. 

The US goods trade deficit widened by $9.3 billion to $80.9 billion in July 2020.

The US services trade surplus narrowed by $0.8 billion to $17.4 billion.

Both exports and imports increased for the second consecutive month in July as COVID-related restrictions eased, but both remain below pre-pandemic levels.  

US exports of goods and services increased to $168.1 billion in July 2020, up 8.1 per cent ($12.6 billion) over June 2020.  US exports of goods and services were $209.7 billion in February 2020. 

Exports of goods increased 11.9 per cent ($12.3 billion) from June to $115.5 billion in July.  US goods exports were $138.5 billion in February.

US services exports increased 0.7 per cent ($0.4 billion) from June to $52.6 billion in July.  US services exports were $71.2 billion in February.

US imports of goods and services increased to $231.7 billion in July, up 10.9 per cent ($22.7 billion) from June.  US imports of goods and services were $246.7 billion in February.  

US goods imports increased 12.3 per cent ($21.5 billion) from June to $196.4 billion in July.  US goods imports were $198.2 billion in February.

Service imports to the US were $35.3 billion in July, up 3.5 per cent ($1.2 billion) from June.  US services imports were $48.4 billion in February.
