JAPAN CURRENT ACCOUNT, TRADE BALANCE, JULY 2020

Current Account

 

Comparing July 2020 with June 2020

  • The Current account surplus narrowed by 85 billion yen to 964 billion yen
  • The Net Goods and services trade deficit narrowed by 217 billion yen to 142 billion yen
  • The Net Primary income surplus narrowed by 372 billion yen to 1,212 billion yen
  • The Net Secondary income deficit narrowed by 70 billion yen to 107 billion yen

 

 

Trade Balance

Comparing July 2020 with June 2020

  • Net Services trade deficit widened by 65 billion yen to 197 billion yen
  • Net Goods trade surplus changed from a deficit (226 billion yen) to a surplus (56 billion yen)
  • Exports of goods increased 361 billion yen to 5,091 billion yen
  • Imports of goods increased 80 billion yen to 5,035 billion yen

 

CURRENT ACCOUNT AS A SHARE OF GDP

Japan's current account to GDP measure dropped significantly.

  • Over same quarter last year (2020Q2 vs 2019Q2) 1.82 points.
  • Quarter-over-quarter (2020Q2 to 2020Q1)  1.87 points to 1.7%.
