US CONSTRUCTION SPENDING, OCTOBER 2020

 

                                                               

Month over month (Oct 2020 vs Sep 2020, seasonally adjusted annual rate)

  • US construction spending increased 1.3% to $1,439 billion
  • Total Residential construction increased 2.9% to $646 billion
  • Total Non-residential construction spending increased 0.0% to $792 billion
  • Private sector construction increased 1.4% to $1,094 billion
    • Private residential construction increased 2.9% to $637 billion
    • Private non-residential construction spending decreased 0.7% to $457 billion
  • Public sector construction increased 1.0% to $345 billion
    • Public residential construction decreased 1.1% to $9.0 billion
    • Public non-residential construction spending increased 1.0% to $336 billion

 

Year over year (Oct 2020 vs Oct 2019)

  • US Construction spending is up 3.7%
  • Private sector construction spending is up 3.7%
    • Private residential construction spending is up 14.5%
    • Private non-residential construction spending is decreased 8.2%
  • Public sector construction spending is up 3.7%
    • Public residential construction spending is up 24.9%
    • Public non-residential construction spending is up 3.2%

 

Year-to-date (Jan-Oct 2020 vs Jan-Oct 2019)

  • US construction spending is up 4.3%
  • Private sector construction is up 4.0%
  • Public sector construction is up 5.1%
  • Total Residential construction is up 9.3%
  • Total Non-residential construction is up 0.9%
