LABOUR FORCE SURVEY - NOVEMBER 2020

In Nova Scotia November 2020, (seasonally adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):                                                                                                     

  • Labour force decreased 0.3% (1,700) from October 2020 to 500,700 and decreased 1.2%  (5,900) over November 2019
  • Employment increased 2.2% (10,000) from October 2020 to 468,500 and increased 0.4% (1,700) over November 2019
  • Unemployment decreased 26.5% (11,600) from October 2020 to 32,200 and decreased 19.1% (7,600) over November 2019
  • Unemployment Rate decreased 2.3 percentage points from October 2020 to 6.4%.

 

In Canada November 2020, (seasonally adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):

  • Labour force decreased 0.1% (19,500) from October 2020 to 20,350,800 and increased 0.3% (61,500) over November 2019
  • Employment increased 0.3% (62,100) from October 2020 to 18,615,600 and decreased 2.5% (481,700) over November 2019
  • Unemployment decreased 4.5% (81,600) from October 2020 to 1,735,200 and increased 45.6% (543,100) over November 2019
  • Unemployment Rate decreased 0.4 percentage points from October 2020 to 8.5%.

 

In Halifax November 2020, (seasonally adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):

  • Labour force remains virtually unchanged (100) from October 2020 at 260,200 and increased 1.3% (3,400) over November 2019
  • Employment increased 1.1% (2,600) from October 2020 to 242,900 and increased 0.7% (1,800) over November 2019
  • Unemployment decreased 13.5% (2,700) from October 2020 to 17,300 and increased 10.2% (1,600) over November 2019
  • Unemployment Rate decreased 1.1 percentage points from October 2020 to 6.6%
