December 17, 2020EU AND EURO AREA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, NOVEMBER 2020 The Euro Area year-over-year inflation rate was stable at -0.3% for November 2020. European Union annual inflation increased 0.2% in November 2020, down from the 0.3% annual gain registered in October 2020. European Union data for this report is now for the 27 member countries of the European Union, not including the UK.
Among EU Member States, the highest annual inflation rates were recorded in Poland (+3.7%), Hungary and Czechia (both at +2.8%) while the lowest year-over-year inflation were reported in Greece (-2.1%), Estonia (-1.2%), Slovenia and Cyprus (both at -1.1%).
Compared with October, annual inflation rates fell in fourteen Member States, remained stable in four and rose in nine.
Food prices in the European Union increased 1.9% annually while food prices in the Euro Area were up 1.7% compared to November 2019.
Energy inflation (November 2020 vs November 2019) was at -7.5% in the European Union and -8.3% in the Euro Area.
Excluding the impacts of volatile energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices year-over-year inflation was stable at +0.7% for the European Union and stable at +0.2% for the Euro Area.
