In percentage terms,
- Nova Scotia Wholesale Trade decreased 0.6% to $927.0 million
- Canada Wholesale Trade increased 0.7% to $67.4 billion
Nine provinces reported monthly increases in wholesale trade, with Manitoba (4.7%) reporting the largest gain, Nova Scotia(-0.6%) reported the only decline.

- Nova Scotia Wholesale Trade increased 3.6%
- Canada Wholesale Trade increased 7.7%
YEAR-TO-DATE (seasonally adjusted, Jan-Nov 2020 vs Jan-Nov 2019)
- Nova Scotia Wholesale Trade decreased 1.3% to $9.8 billion
- Canada Wholesale Trade decreased 1.5% to $687.6 billion
- Four provinces reported year to date increases in wholesale trade, with Prince Edward Island (2.1%) reporting the largest gain.
- Six provinces reported year to date increases and Newfoundland and Labrador (-7.2%) reported the largest decline, in wholesale trade.
NOVA SCOTIA SECTORS (seasonally adjusted, Jan-Nov 2020 vs Jan-Nov 2019)
- Nova Scotia Total wholesale trade decreased 1.3% (-$123.9 million)
- Food, beverage decreased 3.6% (-$121.6 million)
- Motor vehicle and parts decreased 7.6% (-$130.3 million)
- Building material increased 4.0% ($74.3 million)
- Machinery, equipment increased 0.3% ($5.7 million)
- Miscellaneous wholesalers increased 11.9% ($80.6 million)
- Other wholesalers decreased 5.9% (-$32.5 million)
TREND (January 2013 to November 2020)
Nova Scotia's wholesale trade is often volatile from one month to the next. Nova Scotia's wholesale trade has returned to its previous growth trend after the sharp decline brought about by the pandemic of early 2020. A similar pattern has been observed in Canada's wholesale trade, albeit with greater stability from one month to the next.
Wholesale trade in November was higher than the Feburary pre-pandemic benchmark for all provinces except one. Alberta's wholesale trade had returned to Feb20 levels as of July, but it has declined since then.
NATIONAL WHOLESALE INVENTORIES (Nov 2020 vs Oct 2020)
Wholesale inventories decreased by 0.6% to $89.6 billion in November 2020.
