CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, JANUARY 2021

YEAR-OVER-YEAR (Jan 2021 vs Jan 2020)

All items (index 2002=100)

In Nova Scotia, consumer prices increased 1.3% year-over-year in January 2021, compared to the national average of 1.0% increase. Consumer prices in Halifax were up 1.4% in January 2021.

MONTH-OVER-MONTH (Jan 2021 vs Dec 2020)

All items (index 2002=100)

Consumer prices in Nova Scotia increased 1.2% month-over-month in January 2021. This was higher than the national average of 0.6%. In Halifax, prices were up 1.0% from the previous month.

Excluding food and energy (index 2002=100)

Nova Scotia consumer prices excluding food and energy increased 0.7% in January 2021, above the national average of 0.5%.
