March 05, 2021US TRADE BALANCE, JANUARY 2021 Month over month (Jan-21 vs Dec-20)
The U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis announced today that the month-over-month net trade deficit widened by $1.2 billion to $68.2 billion. Goods trade deficit widened by $1.3 billions to $85.4 billion. Services trade surplus widened by $0.1 billion to $17.2 billion.
Total exports increased 1.0% ($1.8 billion) to $191.9 billion. Exports of goods increased 1.6% ($2.1 billion) to $135.7 billion. Exports of services decreased 0.5% ($0.3 billion) to $56.3 billion.
Total imports increased 1.2% ($3.1 billion) to $260.2 billion. Imports of goods increased 1.6% ($3.4 billion) to $221.1 billion. Imports of services decreased 0.9% ($0.3 billion) to $39.0 billion.
Year-to-date (Jan 2021 vs Jan 2020)
The U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis announced today that the year-to-date net trade deficit narrowed by $23.8 billion to $68.2 billion over the same period last year. Goods deficit narrowed by $18.7 billions to $85.4 billion while Services surplus narrowed by $5.2 billions to $17.2 billion.
Total exports decreased 7.6% ($15.7 billion). Exports of goods decreased 1.0% ($1.4 billion). Exports of services decreased 20.3% ($14.4 billion).
Total imports decreased 3.2% ($8.1 billion). Imports of goods decreased 8.5% ($17.3 billion). Imports of services decreased 19.1% ($9.2 billion).
