US CONSTRUCTION SPENDING, FEBRUARY 2021

Month over month (Feb 2021 vs Jan 2021, seasonally adjusted annual rate)

US construction spending decreased 0.8% to $1,517 billion. This follows a revised gain of 1.2% reported in January 2021, when construction spending totaled $1,529 billion. Total residential construction decreased 0.2% to $727 billion. Total non-residential construction spending decreased 1.3% to $790 billion. Private sector construction decreased 0.5% to $1,166 billion. Public sector construction decreased 1.7% to $351 billion.

Year over year (Feb 2021 vs Feb 2020)

US Construction spending is up 5.3%. Total residential construction is up 21.1%. Total non-residential construction is down 6.1%. Private sector construction spending is up 7.1%. Public sector construction spending is down 0.3%.

Year-to-date (Jan-Feb 2021 vs Jan-Feb 2020)

US construction spending is up 5.8%. Total residential construction is up 21.6%. Total non-residential construction is down 5.5%. Private sector construction is up 7.5%. Public sector construction is up 0.7%.
