CANADA'S BALANCE OF INTERNATIONAL PAYMENTS 2021Q1

 

Current Account - All Countries (Seasonally adjusted, 2021Q1 vs 2020Q4)

In Canada , current account receipts increased $12.2 billion to $218.3 billion, while payments income increased $5.8 billion to $217.1 billion. The resulting current account income changed $6.5 billion to a $1.2 billion surplus over the previous quarter.

Exports of goods and services receipts income increased $11.8 billion to $180.9 billion, while imports of goods and services increased $0.821 billion to $178.8 billion. The resulting goods and services balance changed $11.0 billion to a $2.1 billion surplus.

Primary income receipts decreased $0.031 billions to $33.6 billion, while primary income payments  increased $4.9 billion to $33.6 billion. The resulting primary balance changed from a $4.9 billion surplus to a $53 million deficit.

Secondary income receipts increased $442 million to $3.8 billion, while secondary income payments increased $0.066 billion to $4.7 billion. The resulting secondary income deficit narrowed by $0.375 billion to $0.9 billion.

Canada's current account receits from the United States were $149.9 billion. Payments were $127.0 billion. The current account was $23 billion.

Exports of goods and services to the US were $126.5 billion, while imports of goods and services were $108.4 billion. The goods and services trade surplus was $18.1 billion. Primary income receipts from the US were $21.1 billion, while primary income payments were $17.4 billion. The resulting primary income surplus was $3.7 billion. Secondary income receipts from the US were $2.3 billion, while secondary income payments were $1.1 billion. The secondary income surplus was $1.2 billion.
