June 08, 2021US TRADE BALANCE, APRIL 2021 Month over month (Apr-21 vs Mar-21)
The U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis announced today that the month-over-month net trade deficit narrowed by $6.1 billion to $68.9 billion in April. Goods trade deficit narrowed by $6.2 billions to $86.7 billion, and services trade surplus narrowed by $53 million to $17.8 billion.
Total exports increased 1.1% ($2.3 billion) to $205.0 billion. Exports of goods increased 1.1% ($1.6 billion) to $145.3 billion while exports of services increased 1.2% ($0.7 billion) to $59.7 billion.
Total imports decreased 1.4% (-$3.8 billion) to $273.9 billion. Imports of goods decreased 1.9% (-$4.5 billion) to $232.0 billion. Imports of services increased 1.8% ($0.7 billion) to $41.9 billion.
Year over year (Apr 2021 vs Apr 2020)
In the United States, Net trade deficit widened by 30.1% (-$15.9 billions). Net trade Goods deficit widened by 16.2% (-$12.1 billions). Net trade Services surplus narrowed by 17.9% (-$3.9 billions).
Year-to-date (Jan-Apr 2021 vs Jan-Apr 2020)
The U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis announced today that the year-to-date net trade deficit narrowed by $94.5 billions to $281.7 billion over the same period last year. Goods deficit narrowed by $80.3 billions to $355.1 billion while services surplus narrowed by $14.2 billions to $73.5 billion.
Total exports increased 5.6% ($42.0 billion). Exports of goods increased 12.3% ($60.7 billion). Exports of services decreased 7.4% (-$18.7 billion).
Total imports increased 14.6% ($136.4 billion). Imports of goods increased 18.4% ($141.0 billion). Imports of services decreased 2.7% (-$4.5 billion).
