UK TRADE BALANCE, MAY 2021

 

Month-over-month (May 2021 vs Apr 2021, seasonally adjusted )

The United Kingdom goods and services trade changed from a deficit (£1.6 billion ) to a surplus (£0.9 billion). Exports of goods and services increased 4.4% (£2.2 billion) to £51.6 billion, and imports of goods and services decreased 0.6% (£0.3 billion) to £50.8 billion.

The United Kingdom goods trade deficit narrowed by £2.5 billion to £8.5 billion. Exports of goods increased 7.1% (£1.9 billion) to £29.4 billion, and imports of goods decreased 1.4% (£0.5 billion) to £37.9 billion.

The United Kingdom services trade surplus widened by £0.012 billion to £9.4 billion. Exports of services increased 1.0% (£0.2 billion) to £22.2 billion, and imports of services increased 1.7% (£0.2 billion) to £12.9 billion.

Year-over-year (May 2021 vs May 2020, seasonally adjusted )

The United Kingdom goods and services trade surplus narrowed by £5.2 billion. Goods trade deficit widened by £5.8 billion and services trade surplus widened by £0.6 billion.

 

 

 

UNITED KINGDOM TRADING PARTNERS

Month-over-month (May 2021 vs Apr 2021, seasonally adjusted )

The United Kingdom EU goods trade deficit narrowed by £1.0 billion to £4.3 billion. Exports of goods increased 8.8% (£1.1 billion) to £14.2 billion, and imports of goods increased 0.8% (£0.1 billion) to £18.5 billion.

The United Kingdom non-EU goods trade deficit narrowed by £1.5 billion to £4.2 billion. Exports of goods increased 5.5% (£0.8 billion) to £15.2 billion, and imports of goods decreased 3.4% (£0.7 billion) to £19.4 billion.

 

Year-over-year (May 2021 vs May 2020, seasonally adjusted )

The United Kingdom EU goods trade deficit narrowed by £0.05 billion. Non-EU goods trade changed from a surplus ($1.6 billion) to a deficit (-£4.2 billion).
